Choice of routes and cycle paths in the lower Wye Valley and Forest of Dean

Sustrans has opened a level riverside cycle route along the former railway line between Hadnock Road, Monmouth, and Symonds Yat East. Surfacing work has now finished and the trail, called The Peregrine Path, is fully open. Permission has also been given for a short cycleway at Old Station, Tintern, and for a stretch following the old railway line between Whitebrook and Redbrook, although work has not started.

For the more adventurous explorers, there are still many miles of forest tracks, disused railway lines and river bank paths to seek out for yourself. We are well stocked with maps at the pub and have built up a great store of local knowledge, which we can draw upon to advise cyclists on the best route to find the kind of riding that they want.

Bikes can be hired from several providers in or adjacent to the area, and we keep information on the best current local offers.
