"This is a big Thank You for looking after our party of 25 so well on Saturday 23 December. The room was ideal, service excellent and warm welcome very much appreciated. The children were free to roam and the food and drink put all of in exactly the right frame of mind to enjoy Clearwell Caves later that day. A very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year to 'The Family Sloop'. "

"Have eaten here on and off for more than 20 years, third time under the new owners. Food is very good quality, with 'proper' sized portions, at great prices. Children's menu has a lot of choice, although their portions were so big my two couldn't finish them! Very friendly service too. Can't wait to go back! "

"We visited the pub twice whilst staying in a nearby cottage over the weekend.
The pub is dog friendly, dogs are allowed in the bar area (not in the lounge) but the bar area is spacious, comfortable and you can also eat in there. There is also a nice spacious beer garden, with patio & benches and a grassy area.
The owners and locals were warm and friendly. Talked to us about the area, where we were staying etc.
We had a couple of drinks in there on a Saturday afternoon and then went back for dinner in the evening. Menu is varied and good old fashioned pub grub, but cooked very well. i.e surf and turf, hunters chicken, steak etc.
We both enjoyed our meals and the prices were reasonable. If in the area we would certainly return again for a drink or some food. "
